Let's try using this blog for our 13 week weight challenge.
First the facts:
At weigh in
Name weight w/ shoes weight w/o shoes % body fat
Burns 254 252 30%
Wall 204.5 202 28%
Howorth 201 198.5 31%
Final weigh out: 12/2/07 at Stanford pre-game.
Now the stakes:
We seem to have agreed that the two losers are buying dinner for the winner. There has been another suggestion that some form of shirtless exhibition be involved. I'm not sure Amy would let me do that. Instead I offer the following:
The two losers each have to compose a song on GarageBand/MusicMix as an ode to the winner. Lyrics/vocals are optional. Excellent title is mandatory. It takes as little as five minutes to do a very credible job.
Instead of filling up our in boxes, we can use this blog...that we can discuss our progress, challenges and triumphs.
Feel free to tell others where to find this.

I assume that my weight is already down to the mid 190s. But, I have not checked my weight yet. All the literature indicates that multiple weigh-in's are counterproductive. I'm taking a scientific approach. Mark, you'll be hitting the doughnuts in no time after you weight stops dropping.
Travis
what is a "multiple weigh in?"
13 weeks isn't long enough to have my weight stopo dropping. If I pull out 500 calories per day of diet, exercise to take out another 400-500 calories, I only get down to about 170 in 13 weeks.
I think my lowest natural weight would be about 155, so it would be about 6 months or so before I stopped losing.
Do you agree to the song idea?
The song idea works for me. But the bet should also include pizza and beer. We should end where we started.
Multiple weigh-ins, i.e., continually checking your weight every day. For may people, it is discouraging.
Pizza, Beer, and MILK SHAKES!!
Why would more data be discouraging? Sounds like a weak mind.
I am already 12 pounds down as well. I did it by going to Ohleyers, dringking beer, eating crawdads, and having a generally good time, and then going to Colleens Dad's house for Lamb Chops, Corn on the Cob, and a great Macaroni Salad - Kristina made it nice with Cheddar Cheese Dressing. So i have really been cutting back.
I am OK wih the scale - I check my body fat all the time. I am at 28% now.
Anyway, this is tough. I don;t know if I can make it. I am sure Mark is going to win - he is a real competitor.
My lowest possible weight is about 175. That would be 1500 calories per day and an hour of rigourous exercise for another 600-800 calories - grand total of input of 700 per day. I do that for two years straight and I would get to 175. My lowest possible weight within the 13 weeks should be about 215 - a loss of 40 pounds, or 15.75%. I think that is definately doable. If I exercise an hour per day and eat about 2000 calories per day, that is my stable weight.
My secondary goal is to run the bay to breakers next year in under an hour. That is an eight minute mile for 7.25 miles. That would require a totally different weight loss process. Mostly just exercise.
I think we should also include feats of strength in this contest. Perhaps phase two should be a race at the Bay to Breakers?
Finally, in terms of prizes, I think Pizza and Beer dinner would be fine. Then, Fentons for Shakes. I am also OK with the music but I think it is sort of lame. Who wants to hear Travis singing. Is that Music thing a duet?
Mark - 189 on your scale is probably about 197 on my scale. I love it when I stay and weigh myself down there.
Pat:
Please don't pretend you can see the dial of the scale when you stand on it.
Remember the music payoff is vocals/lyrics optional.
I like the Fentons addition.
